Finca El Morito – Peru

The 150 acre farm of El Morito is producing exceptional coffees from the high altitude region of Cajamarca in Northern Peru. Under the management of David Flores, a third-generation coffee producer, El Morito focuses heavily on quality, sustainability, and community. Being surrounded by nature, the workers at El Morito know the importance of taking care of the environment and living in harmony with nature to be able to produce coffee for years to come. This begins with the farm being fully organic and a focus on sustainability, treating wastewater and composting coffee pulp are some of the ways the farm maintains a balance.

For the community, El Morito provides training and use of the processing facilities to neighboring farms, helping to improve the quality of their harvests. Alongside this, they have invested in state-of-the-art processing facilities and a research lab to ensure the highest quality of Peruvian coffee.

The Marshell varietal was only recently discovered in 2016 on a farm in Peru. Thought to be a mutation of the Bourbon varietal, Marshell has become popular with farmers for its high yield, disease resistance, and cup quality. It has even been used in various Cup of Excellence competitions!

This lot uses a classic washed process to present a clean, balanced, and tea-like example of Peruvian terroir. We are excited to share this wonderful coffee with you!
